Stewart Kerr,

Board Chair

Stewart Kerr joined the Ethiopiaid Canada Board of Directors in October 2021 and became the Board Chair in October 2022. He has 7 years of work experience in the non-profit sector and has a diverse range of skills and experience working in non-profit program management and coordination. His work highlights include working on the Canadian Red Cross disaster response to the BC Wildfires of 2017, the Canadian Electoral Monitoring Mission to Ukraine in 2019, and the Ottawa School Crossing Guard program. Stewart holds a B.A. Honours in History from the University of Regina and a Master’s degree in International Peace Studies from Trinity College Dublin. Stewart joined the Board of Directors because of his interest in International Development, and was drawn to Ethiopiaid Canada because of their commitment and emphasis on a Grassroots approach to International Development and working directly with Ethiopian NGOs.

Kristen O'Connell,

Director

Kristen is Fundraising and Outreach Specialist for the Global Disability Fund, a multi-stakeholder global partnership for disability inclusion. Kristen is experienced in developing and implementing strategic partnerships, communication strategies, and effective governance systems. She is committed to driving meaningful change through collaborative and inclusive approaches.
In her career, Kristen has worked for global funds focused on community engagement, prevention of violent extremism, and disability inclusion; she has also worked in the private sector for financial institutions.

Michael Lowery,

Director

Michael is a graduate of the University of Toronto and McMaster University, bringing over seven years of dedicated fundraising experience to his role as a board member at Ethiopiaid Canada. His career has afforded him the privilege of working with organizations championing a diverse array of causes, from cancer support to international development and animal welfare. Each experience has deepened his commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

Laura Onono,

Director

Hi, I am Laura Onono a conflict resolution specialist with 17+ years of auto insurance experience in Subrogation with a concentration in mediation, arbitration and negotiation. I am passionate about conflict resolution which led to me moving to Ottawa, Canada to do masters in conflict studies. I am also a certified Third-Party Neutral in Canada.

I am currently in training to earn hours for mediation certification and also serve a co-chair of Ethiopiaid Canada.

I am also a member of the Canadian Institute of Conflict Resolution.

Abhi Mishra,

Director

Abhi Mishra is a Canada 30 Under 30 honoree and a Top 25 Under 25 Environmentalist, as well as the co-founder of Mosa Technologies, a Vancouver-based social enterprise transforming glass waste into sustainable home décor. With a Bachelor of Commerce from UBC, specializing in Marketing and Sustainability, Abhi has expanded Mosa's retail presence to 40+ stores.

As former VP Finance at AMS of UBC, he managed a $30 million budget, revitalized the health and dental plan for 50,000 students, and implemented strategies that saved over $3 million. Abhi also co-chairs the Communications Committee at the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, where he has boosted member engagement and digital presence.

Passionate about sustainability and innovation, Abhi combines strategic leadership with a drive to create lasting environmental and community impact.
