Hannah’s family have always made the best of what they have. And despite living in extreme poverty, they show real courage to work hard and provide for one another. But when Hannah went into labour with twins, her life was about to become even more difficult. One of her children was stillborn. And to make matters even worse, Hannah sustained a fistula injury during childbirth, which left her completely incontinent. Everywhere she went, Hannah was reminded of her loss by the embarrassment and foul smell that came with her condition.
After receiving fistula repair surgery and physiotherapy by the specialists at the fistula hospital, Hannah regained her health, mobility, and dignity. Within a few months, she was able to return to her village with her head held high.
