Ethiopiaid is a small and effective organization working to support the efforts of community partners in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.

We only work with the best local organizations, valued for their expertise, skill and ambition.

They fall within three categories:

• Poverty alleviation
• Healthcare
• Education

By targeting these areas we can make a real difference for those in desperate need.

Our History

In the Autumn of 1987, Sir Alec Reed returned from his first visit to Ethiopia. He saw what many people might expect - widespread hardship, suffering and poverty. However, he also saw passion, knowledge and ambition. He knew it would take something simple to make a huge difference to the lives of many people.

Ethiopiaid came to life in 1989. Using a small number of hardworking staff and donated office space, they started to raise public funds for local charities in Ethiopia. Communities were immediately able to use their passion, knowledge and ambition to create better futures for themselves and their families.

Ethiopiaid Canada opened it's doors in 2009. To date, the Ethiopiaid network has donated over $43m, giving thousands of people the power to change their own future.
